A Brand New Ending by S.A. Rolls Blog Tour - Review and Giveaway

Phoenix Harper never imagined her life would come to this: A life not worth living anymore.

After a failed suicide attempt, Phoenix is sent to be observed at a local psychiatric hospital. There she meets Braeden Harris, a hospital aide with his own haunting past.

Not long after their first encounter, they feel an unexplainable pull towards one another. Will fate bring them together, or will outside forces tear them apart?

This book is one of the more original stories I have read in a long time.  It's hard to find books can set itself apart from the slew of new adult romance novels out there.  I love my new adult novels, but it felt good to read something that was so different.

This is a darker and angst filled story, but we all know, these are my favorite.  I love it when a book can make me feel like I've been punched in my gut and has me struggling to breathe at times.

"Life is a notion that now sickens me.  If I had wings, I would fly free.  But since I don't, I guess I will choose to jump instead of float."

Phoenix attempts to kill herself by jumping off of a bridge.  Her failed attempt lands her in a psychiatric hospital.  Phoenix has lived a hard life in her 19 years and felt that she had no other way out other than ending her life.

There she meets Braeden.  Braeden is a hospital aide who works on the unit she is in.  He feels a connection to her the moment he meets her.  It can't be explained, but he is drawn to her and she quickly takes over his thoughts more often than he would like.  He can't get her out of her mind and he doesn't even know her.

Braeden has his own personal demons but deals with them using less extreme methods.  Before he meets Phoenix, he keeps himself busy and is just numb to most things.  Phoenix awakens Braeden emotionally and they both give each other something to live for.

"You are the most beautiful person I have ever seen, Phoenix.  Both inside and out.  You have been broken multiple times over, but here you stand."

I freaking love Braeden and Phoenix.  Life has tried to crush Phoenix over and over again, but she still fights. Braeden wants nothing more than to love Phoenix and make her feel safe.  He wants to save her from so many things, including herself.  He treads lightly, knowing that she has a hard time trusting people.  He doesn't rush her or push her, but he lets her take the lead in their relationship.

"Fairy tales are bullshit.  There was no prince to rescue me.  There was no spell to make the big bad wolf disappear.  This was real life.  My life."

Phoenix has been through so much before her attempt, and bad things just keep on happening to her.  Your heart can't help but break for her.  I'm pretty sure I wanted to throw my Kindle at the wall a few times.  I think I yelled at it to stop with the bad things and just leave her alone.

So much happens in this book, I will need a little bit longer to recover from this book hangover.  But this book was so different from so many of the new adult titles out there, and it deals with a lot of darker, disturbing issues.

The ending stopped my heart.  I was like, "Wait, no!  This is not happening to me right now."  Because I was so affected by the ending.  I hated the way it made me feel because I was in utter shock, but it was done so well.

If you love New Adult novels, but are looking for something completely different, definitely pick up A Brand New Ending.  You will still get your romance, but you will get a deeper story as well.
